Why choose the Business & Marketing Certificate?

This one year foundation course is suitable for post 16 learners wishing to gain skills and knowledge to apply for a variety of jobs or apprenticeships.

The emphasis is Marketing, but you will study a wide range of business skills and theories. Marketing is all about identifying, anticipating and satisfying the needs of customers. Below are some of the topics you will study:

  1. What strategy should I use to promote a product or service?
  2. How do I develop a brand personality?
  3. How do I create a digital marketing communication?
  4. What factors affect the success of a marketing strategy?
  5. What are the features of a successful product?
  6. How do I plan and present a marketing campaign?

Extra-curricular Activities

The course involves business visits linked to your coursework.  In the past we have taken students to Aztec Watersports, Cadbury World and Westons Cider.

Progression Opportunities

On successful completion you can progress to a Level 3 Business course at the College, which in turn could lead to higher education.

Assessment

Assessment will be a mixture of exam and coursework:

Unit 1: Onscreen test marked by the exam board. The test duration is 75 minutes. This is worth 25%

Unit 2: Internally assessed coursework task based on conducting and presenting market research.

Unit 3: Internally assessed coursework task based on creating digital communications. This  may include e-mail marketing, social media, affiliate marketing, websites and mobile marketing.

Unit 4: Internally assessed coursework task based on planning and presenting a marketing campaign for a specific product or service.

Teaching and Learning Styles
