Work Experience
Student Services have dedicated Work Experience Officers that can help you secure a work placement in an organisation relevant to your chosen career path.
A research study by HighFliers said that, “graduates who have had no previous work experience at all are unlikely to be successful during the selection process and have little or no chance of receiving a job offer from their organisations’ graduate programme.”

A week long work placement or even a day shadowing with an employer can help you:
- Identify your own skills and perhaps even highlight the areas that you need to build on
- Develop a better understanding of a job role/career
- Gain transferrable skills that employers look for such as problem-solving, teamwork, communication and time management.
- Show you have motivation and commitment
During our Impact Week in June, year 1 students are expected to arrange a minimum of two days work experience.
