What are cookies?
A cookie is a small file, typically of letters and numbers, downloaded on to a device when the user accesses certain websites. Cookies allow a website to recognise a user’s device and improve the user's overall experience.
What cookies does WSFC use?
Unless otherwise stated below all cookies that are used on WSFC sites are all session based cookies, meaning that they get automatically deleted after a set time (an hour) or when you close your browser. They don't contain any information that is personal to you, they’re just there to make the site work better for you. Indeed, you can manage and/or delete these small files as you wish. See below for a full description of the cookies that we use.

|PHPSESSID||This cookie is used to secure your session whilst logged in to the WSFC gateway. You must allow this cookie into your browser to provide continuity and maintain your login from page to page.|
|MoodleSessionTest||This cookie is used to simply see whether your browser allows cookies.|
|MoodleSession||You must allow this cookie into your browser to provide continuity and maintain your login from page to page.|
|MOODLEID||This cookie is stored for your convenience by remembering your username within the browser. This means when you return to this site the username field on the login page will be already filled out for you. It is safe to refuse this cookie - you will just have to retype your username every time you log in. This small cookie is stored on your machine for four weeks for convenience next time you login.|
|Please note that if you choose private computer on the logon screen a persistent (saved) cookie is set with your username in.|
|MstrPgLd1||Gives a temporary new number to each visitor and stores the timezone of visitor, current page information & user preferences. Note that MstrPgLd2 is stored for up to an hour, if set logondata(ie you have chosen private computer on the logon screen) is stored for 2 weeks and all others are removed when you close your browser.|
